CARB Clean Truck Check - $120
Reliable CARB Testing for Heavy-Duty Vehicles
California’s Clean Truck Check program now requires nearly all diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles over 14,000 lbs to undergo periodic emissions testing. Whether you are based in California or just passing through, compliance is mandatory to maintain your registration and avoid costly enforcement actions.
At Windways, we make the process simple:
Credentialed Testers: Our team is fully trained and authorized to perform the required emissions inspection.
Comprehensive Testing: We handle the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) data submissions for newer trucks
Direct Reporting: We submit your passing results directly to the CARB CTC-VIS system, ensuring your VIN is instantly updated for DMV clearance.
CARB Clean Truck Check: OBD Readiness Standards
For 2013+ diesel and 2018+ alternative fuel vehicles to pass the California emissions scan, the following OBD criteria must be met:
MIL Status: The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) / Check Engine Light must be OFF while the engine is running.
Active Faults: There must be NO confirmed or permanent Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present.
Monitor Readiness: A vehicle is only allowed a maximum of two (2) "Incomplete" OBD monitors. If three or more are incomplete, the vehicle will receive a "Not Ready" status.
Operational History: To prove the system has been properly tested by the onboard computer, the vehicle must meet one of the following since the last time codes were cleared:
5 Warm-Up Cycles (WUC)
200 Miles of driving
400 Minutes of engine run time
Permanent DTCs (If Applicable): If a Permanent DTC is present, the vehicle must have at least 15 Warm-Up Cycles and 400 miles of travel for the code to be ignored.
Pre-Test Recommendations for Drivers
Do Not Clear Codes: Clearing codes right before a test resets all monitors to "Incomplete," which will result in a "Not Ready" failure.
Warm Engine: Always arrive with the engine at normal operating temperature.
Submission Window: Tests can be submitted starting 90 days before your compliance deadline.
